What is the difference between chat?

Can you please tell me what is the difference between chat and pure PHP Sockets and NodeJS? I read that it is better to do chat on NodeJS, but I did not understand why, if there is a pure socket

chat is better to write on websockets.
and how to implement / process these same websockets (on PHP or a node or something else), the choice is purely personal.
