What is the correct way to install the latest node.js and npm on Debian?

Installed via apt-get, as a result I got nodejs version v0.10.29 and npm 1.4.21
Although the last node is generally version 5?
Yet how to do it right?

Install nvm. Put everything through it.
There are docks on nvm offsite, everything is described.
