What is the correct size for the main application container?

It seems like a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer to it. How to correctly set the size or in other words, how to most competently manage the size of the container () in dynamic - spa applications?
I would like to set the most accurate sizes (without scrolls) so that in child containers you can control the sizes without fear of "something terrible".
