I want to study robotics, but there is no such specialty in the universities of my city. What specialties are closest to this area?

As a teacher of robotics for children, I will say bluntly: "robotics" is a certain swindle and profanity, a fashion trend. As a separate specialty it is not viable. Yes, a "robotician" can make children's toys with a wow effect, but for serious applications, a team of various specialists is needed. Therefore, after playing with Lego, I separate the children according to their inclinations: programmers, electronics engineers and mechanics. Well, voluntarily-compulsory for all physics and mathematics. I kick the older and especially advanced ones in the direction of biology.
In real life, at least technologists are required, and electronic engineers are divided into groups: security officials, digital, analog, board splitters and solderers; various R&D are added, etc.
