What is the best way to synchronize files on local and vds?

I kept all my sites on hostings, but recently I needed to make a site with long-term support and constant improvements. Constantly uploading files via ftp from local to hosting, from hosting to local, is not very convenient, because you often get confused where which versions of files are (site on laravel)
I decided to take vds, but I don’t know how to synchronize with it.
Thinking about git. On LAN, make changes and push them somehow to the VDS, but I don’t know how to organize it.

Jenkins, Travis, Gitlab CI/CD .... whatever. Git is the basis, of course, but not a deployment tool, but only a data source
