What is the best way to store home data?

Good day!
At the moment I store the main data on one WD Red + I make a regular copy (Ctrl + C - Ctrl + V) on WD Green, which just lies on the shelf. Both drives are NTFS.
Interested in the question - How best to organize data storage in terms of choosing a file system, saving method, etc.?
Main OS based on Linux, rarely need Windows XP or 7.

You have a very good storage method, leave it as it is, just automate it.

Your option with an external HDD in this case is very good and allows you to protect a lot.
* - RAIDs only protect against disk flight, but do not protect against accidental deletion by yourself or anyone else, therefore they are effective only where it is necessary to maintain continuous access to information.
* - Backup with an archiver or acronyms to another disk (on this hard drive) protects against accidental deletion and flying of MBR, bads in this area of the disk, but does not protect against flying of the disk itself - effectively suitable for storing frequently changed working information to backups that need frequent access .
* - Copying to a separate HDD (like yours) protects against the flight of the main disk and accidental deletion of information from it, but poorly protects against external influences (the same magnetic fields, power surges when connected) - effectively suitable for storing frequently changed working information to backups that need infrequent access.
* - Copying information to an optical drive - the most effective way of long-term and reliable storage of information, the catalog shelf life of a CD is up to a hundred years - effectively suitable for storing extremely rarely changed and unchangeable information (photos, videos, finished projects) for which you need a backup rare access.
