What is the best OS for a game server?

Good night, please tell me who dealt with game servers? What is the best Linux OS to run a game server on (performance, etc.)? I have good experience with ubuntu/debian and CentOS. But there is no experience of protection against injections and brute force.

This should be protected at the application level, not in the OS.

On the one that the team knows best, which has a suitable LTS release, suitable native software builds, support from the host, and so on.
The performance depends on the hardware in the first place (any of the popular operating systems can be configured correctly).
That is, without taking into account your specific context, the OS differ only in names.

Install centOS and a well-configured iptables (if difficult, some kind of ufw firewall). And from ddosa and injections (understood what you mean) set up nginx as a proxy. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether there are distributions for linux, before, as far as I remember, they were only for windows systems.
