What is the best way to make social media icons?

Here is an example how to make icons on inline svg.
Is it better to just make a div with a class, and fontawesome there? Or is there a more modern way to make it svg, as done here, also inline?
I understand that both options have a place to be, and are acceptable, but which is more "kosher", and how would you do it and why?

the purity of the code here is 50/50... how, it's more convenient for you not to get lost in the code... But, if svg is in html... then more options for the svg code will make fun...
