What is the best way to make a portfolio?

Interested in such a question, is it possible to make just examples of your work as a portfolio without painting them? Or is it worth it to paint each job, tell about yourself, indicate skills, etc., etc.? Or let's say there is a page with different cards (landing pages or something in js) and the name of the project and a link to it are written in the card, will this be enough?

People are too lazy... no one reads the texts) especially in the portfolio, graphics are our everything, unless of course the direction allows
