What is the best way to deal with the encoder?

The signal comes from the encoder ~ 4.85 volts, but the raspberry pi supports a maximum input of 3.3V, as I understood from the documentation. I can’t replace it with another one, because it is necessary to solve on that iron that provided.
What better to do? Install a voltage divider?

An encoder is nothing more than 2 sequentially closed buttons, and as you know, the buttons always have the voltage that you apply to them. Thus, there is no need to invent anything, but apply 3.3V to the encoder instead of 5V

I would make a divider
Encoder ---- 100 Ohm --v-- 200 Ohm ---- ground
In the middle of the output to the RPi
