What is the best way to build maps in unity?

Is there any difference between creating a map for example in blender / 3d max and transferring it to a unit and creating a map directly in a unit from objects made in other programs?

It will not be possible to make a complete map in editors, all the same, part of the components and connections will have to be built in Unity. This means that when making changes and exporting in the editor, something may crash when re-imported into Unity.
It is most convenient to transfer in a modular way, make stairs, houses, barrels and other props in the editor, then arrange them in Unity as prefabs. If the level is ground, then the earth (Terrain) is immediately in Unity.
