What is the best user to install PostgreSQL under?

Am I understanding this section of the documentation correctly?

The best way to install would be to create a postgresowner user who will take ownership of the executables. Then, during the installation process, a user will be automatically created under which the daemon will run.

In 99.99999999999999% of cases, the distribution's package manager knows perfectly well which user to install what.

When you install PostgreSQL on Linux, the postgres user will be automatically created and will become the owner of the database cluster files.
