What is the best PHP framework to use for Backbone?

I am learning to create applications on Backbone. There is an entry level.
I seem to know how to write programs in JavaScript - I made a complex calculator for elevator cabins for a company - it reminds me of a car configurator with many variables. Everything was done on AJAX JSON data exchange for the company's CRM system.
I'm trying to implement a one-page (at least something) site on Backbone using RequireJS.
Now I'm thinking which framework is better to use.
The LoftBlog guys in the screencast recommend Laravel, I'm not familiar with it, and I can't 100% know how to use it.
I would like to use something similar to Kohana.
If anyone has examples of REST Fullization of Kohana, I will be very happy - preferably with a tiny example and the organization of directories within the project.
