It's strange why many popular OS among web programmers didn't sound, I'll put in my five cents.
Palm OS - despite the end of support, it is still very popular, there may be some problems with installation on a PC, but they are easy to solve, stable, fun, runs on phones.
KolibriOS is a lightweight, fast and open source, actively developed, very stable.
AIX is a time-honored legend, the choice of a true enterprise web developer, installation on x86 may be a problem, but overall worth it.
DragonFly BSD is an improved version of FreeBSD, great for both workstation and server

If the software stack is small software, then win.
If you want to be fashionable and lazy, then - mac os.
If you want to poke around and sharpen the environment for yourself, then Linux.
And do not forget about an important aspect that affects the choice of os - specific software a la photoshop.

It is convenient to use the same OS as the one on which your projects will be executed.
But at the same time, in this OS, you may lack something you need, so it is convenient to additionally have an auxiliary OS in the form of a virtual machine.
My version:
Linux Ubuntu - For the same is on the servers where my projects work.
Virtual Windows - To run Internet Explorer and other Windows joys that have no normal replacement for Linux

Use whichever is comfortable for you. Win and Mac OS are popular among web developers. *nix is not recommended due to the lack of basic graphics programs - Photoshop and Illustrator.
If the graphical component of sites is not a priority for you, then linux is also a good solution (I recommend lubuntu).

I am a web programmer, Ubuntu is on my working computer, all the necessary software is there, the local server also rises elementarily, so I advise this particular OS.

Red!
In general, I would like to see how all these "lazy" macos deploy several versions of PHP with convenient garbage for quickly deploying new domains for projects... xD

Which OS to choose for a front-end developer?

Use the one you are comfortable with.
But for development, I think
Linux and Mac Os are better suited.

I chose MacOS. In older versions, even the web server was the default. Now I have to set the handles, but it's easy. Still, *nix systems are needed to work, and poppy - I call it "glamorous Unix". If I had any dislike for Apple products, then I would install some kind of Linux. Well, in general, just not Windows - it is for viruses and games.
Chose - it does not mean bought a poppy. At first, I worked on a hackintosh for a year. Then I realized the benefits and already acquired a piece of iron.
And by the way, 95% of specific software has either a version for poppy or a worthy analogue. What I encountered - so only webmoney ... there is only some kind of client for a poppy, such as for a phone, truncated.

If you mean OS for a web server, then the best choice in my opinion is Debian or Ubuntu. If we are talking about the machine on which you will work, then any one is convenient for you: windows or mac. I do not take Linux into account, because. there is no photoshop, and its counterpart Gimp is not a replacement. A web developer needs Photoshop. Also in Linux my IDE looks bad - PhpStorm (the most convenient).
