What is the best Linux distribution to install on an old laptop?

acer-aspire-5315.jpg
Hi friends! We need your help in choosing the right distribution. I will format the hard drive with Windows and install Linux. Desired goal: to get basic and then advanced knowledge of CentOS OS.
Here are the specs of my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop:

  • Processor: Intel Celeron M, 1860 MHz, 1 core, x64.
  • RAM: 2 GB (does not support expansion).
  • Video card: Intel GMA X3100.
  • Hard disk: 250 GB.

Friends! I downloaded Konoplev's lessons "Linux Basic Course 2009", where he explains using the example of CentOS 5 OS. Tell me, is this distribution kit suitable for my laptop?
I also need your advice : Should I take this course on CentOS 5 or is it better to install CentOS 7?
Or maybe you can tell me better courses on Linux, knowing the characteristics of my laptop?
SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM

Спасибо, друзья!
Успешно установил Lubuntu v14.04.5.

Intel Celeron M is bad, it does not support PAE (it seems), which is required by default by the kernels of modern distributions. Try to install CentOS, it won't work - contact me. I somehow (I don’t remember how) put ubuntu.
Memory even 2 GB at the present time is not enough.

There is not much difference, I would advise debian with openbox on board
