The engine needs to be directly sharpened for a news / publishing / information portal. With editors, authors, etc...

I only know one: dle-news.ru/ maybe there are better alternatives?

WP, although there are performance issues. But ease of use and ease of learning covers all the disadvantages.

Now WP and Drupal will advise. Both will fit.

I myself am now thinking about what to do news. The main requirement is that there should be bloggers and everyone should keep their own blog ..... like here - times.mk.ua (there is the "voice of the people" on the side)
