What is the best driver to use on Ubuntu 16.04?

I think it's better to leave the Nouveau video card, so it seems to be faster than NVIDIA. Do you have these? Another Intel driver, should I use it? What is it for?
Please, does anyone know, briefly explain about this?

Nouveau, so it seems to be faster than NVIDIA.

1. Nouveau simply fundamentally cannot run faster, because it is a free stray, cobbled together from the same proprietary NVIDIA diver, because NVIDIA does not give full technical specifications for its chips.
2. If you choose NVIDIA proprietary driver for your card , it will be better. But not all NVIDIA drivers work with all cards.
3. If you only need an NVIDIA video card, then the difference is not so big ... but if you need programs that use parallel GPU processors, cards, libraries and CUDA tools, then only the proprietary NVIDIA driver.

As a rule, obsolete versions from nvidia are displayed there. Try to put fresh manually for a better comparison.

do not use nouveau, it is problematic (at least on the desktop). and 131 drivers are too old.
