What is the best direction in the university to choose (mathematics / programming)?

Good afternoon, I’m going to enter a university this year, but I don’t know which subject to concentrate on for the exam: physics or computer science. I definitely won’t go to the coolest places with information (MFTI / HSE), because I am a graduate of past years and there are no Olympiads for my soul, only a good exam in Russian (91). Since I only have 5 months left to prepare, then I need to choose which subject to concentrate on: computer science (and go with it to secondary universities like Mai / Mei / MISIS for some kind of software engineering) or try to raise physics to a conditional 70- 80 points and go to mathematical specialties (with it, in theory, I even have a chance to go to some kind of higher education / mm MSU, or, more realistically, PMI, many places need physics, and the passing rate is not so high (230-240) In principle, the first option is simpler, more likely to enter, and in principle, I don’t mind becoming an ordinary coder with an average salary for the market, but in the second option, the real chances of studying in a cool place are impressive (although in the end, of course, you can end up with nothing), and the fact that intensive study in mathematics in theory can bring more benefits. What would you advise me to choose?

The university has never influenced and will not influence your future work. Choose a university that is simpler and not boring. Just for the sake of the tower (which, for example, I don’t have) and develop into it if you are interested.

As the well-known person Savvateev said (you can google it), mathematicians will rule in the future and programmers will be their apprentices.
But since you don’t feel strong in yourself in mathematics, I don’t think that in 5 months you can improve something there, it takes years.
All that remains is programming, since there is now a hype demand for it. And by the way, foreign countries (Europe, America on a work visa) are unfortunately
valued by beginners without experience, namely the crust on the profile. Well, and if there is a passion for mathematics, then it can already be realized at the institute itself, professors will only be happy.
