It all depends on what you want. If reputation, then, accordingly, you need to look for a famous company.
If - experience, then it depends on the team and the organization of the work process, as well as the size of the company.
In small companies, as a rule, all processes proceed faster and more freely.
In large companies, a common problem is bureaucracy and excessive formalism.

For a student of very junior courses (2-4), I consider it optimal - research institutes, defense industry.
There are many benefits to going there.
If you are an engineer, you can communicate with professionals, find a leader.
If a programmer - start programming real things.
+ relatively good money
cons:
1) the danger of getting into a situation when the complexity of the projects in which you participate does not increase
As for senior students and young professionals:
If you have discipline, you can go to a startup.
It is good to go to a big company for medical insurance and discipline.

Are there professionals in the research institute)? Ahem.
According to the subject - go to the big one. Firstly, there is much more knowledge in the air, and secondly, you can shoot and you won’t want to go anywhere else.

Look for a company that will teach you. Not in the sense of buying books or sending them to courses (although this is probably not bad either) and sharing experience a lot and often. I don't know how to explain this more specifically.

While young, go to a startup. Then you can't afford it anymore.
