What is the best Arduino board to buy for an automatic greenhouse control system?

Where is it better to start, so that later you can only expand the system with sensors, control relays and other things without replacing the main board?

You will need to control the valves for filling water tanks, monitor levels (min, max, emergency), temperature, soil moisture, ventilation opening engine, remote monitoring via mobile Internet ... I can think of something else))

NodeMCU (Esp8266) along with a debug board like this one . There are already more interesting percents and Wi-Fi on board and a bunch of projects on the internet.
But my advice to you, take the project that is most suitable for the composition of the periphery from the existing DIY bison like Alex Hoover . There everything is chewed and on the shelves, there are vidos, there are references and links, there are recommendations from trusted sellers of Chinese stores with the necessary details.

Any, absolutely, no difference, as long as there are enough pins.
If with the Internet, then either buy and connect the module, or use ESP with built-in wi-fi, but this is not quite arduino
