What is the benefit of Angular authorization using Firebase Cloud Functions?

Actually the question is in the title.
I'm really still "floating" in the issue of authorization through social networks in general, but as far as I understand, you can use Firebase auth without cloud functions.
Until you figure out what the advantage is? Intuitively, this increases security, but would like to hear from the pros.
