What is the apache + nginx bundle for?

There is a bunch of nginx as a front to apache, when nginx dynamically redirects to apache. And I have a question - why do this, in what cases is it beneficial or necessary? There will be 2 web servers - add. they need resources. If there is a regular site with php, you can immediately send a request to the php-fpm socket.

This is a bunch for especially "special", those who love the Indian with fiery love and always criticize nginx + php-fpm :)
PS Perhaps because of the specific modules that may be present in apache.
