I would still separate artists (illustrators) and designers.
Designing mobile applications or websites is up to designers.
What is profitable for artists to draw? So what do you pay more for?
Look at the exchange:
https://www.fl.ru/projects/
Choose the specializations in which you will work out, indicate the budget for the project that you are interested in and see what they order to draw for that kind of money.
And yes, the "benefit" is different. You can draw something for relatively little money but often, or for a lot of money but rarely, and as a result you will get the same.
If you work with both raster and vector graphics, then it may be worth refocusing on print design. There are a lot of such orders, although they are inexpensive.
In general, in design in any specialization, you can earn a lot. It directly depends on the level and volume of your portfolio. That is, if you have a bunch of cool works in some narrow specialization (for example, a lot of cool logos), then your work will be expensive, despite the fact that the cheapest logos can be made for 2 thousand rubles. Most importantly, build a portfolio.
