What is MySQL Shell for on Windows?

Installed MySQL 8.0 server on Windows 7. During installation, there is an option to install MySQL Shell. There is very little information on the web about what Shell is and why it is needed. What is the meaning of this Shell? In what cases can I do without it? And where can I read more about it?

Why not enough? Here it is written about him, in sufficient detail: once and twice .
As far as I understand, this is an "improved" version of the usual MySQL console client, which you can do without completely if you are sick of working in the console or you are used to working through "window" programs (which is certainly more convenient in some cases). Most likely, the difference between the standard MySQL client (console) and this new one is about the same as between Windows cmd and Windows PowerShell... And it appeared, apparently, only in MySQL 5.8 (8.0).
