What is more important in programming languages now, speed or ease of use?

If you analyze the situation in the computer market, you can see that devices are becoming stronger and stronger, is speed still more important than the convenience of a programming language?

Balance matters.

Which is better, oak or birch? In my opinion, the standard answer to such questions has long been "depending on the task"

if the business is noodles that have been developed for the 3rd year and the end of the edge is not visible - the balance is shifting towards the convenience of development - because servers are many times cheaper than supporting "optimized code" with frequent changes,
and if you need to write software for simple operations on a large amount of data - both c++ and cuda can be the best choice...
well, in more or less large projects, it's usually not the language that is responsible for the speed, but rather the architectural solutions. instead of switching from java to pluses, sometimes it's better to rewrite a couple of bottlenecks normally;)

In many cases, speed is more important than convenience, in many other cases, speed is not critical (development speed becomes critical). Depends on the area and specific tasks.

I will answer briefly - the speed of the programmer's implementation of the task assigned to him for business.

I re-read the question several times, but did not understand it. What exactly are you interested in the speed of work? Piece of iron? Code? Programmer? The convenience of the language is also a very subjective concept.
In the general case, the answer is simple: as elsewhere, it depends on the specific task.
