What is MacBook activation?

The store refuses to return the laptop, claiming that "the laptop is activated, the warranty has already expired."
I check the laptop by the serial number on the Apple website https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ru/ru, the result is: "Purchase date not confirmed". As I understand it, this means that the laptop has not been activated and the warranty has not expired?
I myself did not register it exactly with Apple, I only entered the data that the Macos asked me when I turned on the new device and logged in.

This excuse is often used by shops and it has absolutely no power.

Apple technology is activated when you turn it on for the first time, connect to the Internet and enter your Apple ID. So the store is right. Using your own link, by entering the serial number, you can see the activation date. It does not appear immediately naturally, I didn’t have information on my phone for a week, for example.
Is this a reason for refusing to return - I xs, not a lawyer.
Why return? something wrong with mac?
If there are no defects, the store is not obliged to return, about two weeks - this is at the request of the store, somewhere the buyers are given such an opportunity, somewhere not. For example, DNS, citylink is usually the norm for returns ... other stores in different ways.
For a store, an opened apple technique is already a BU, because. from the moment of opening and activation, there is a countdown of use ... (actually, this seems to be even Apple itself says)
if there are no defects, at the site of the store I would send you to the forest
