What is Homestead even for?
I am currently developing a local project and have started by learning laravel as a backend. I use Linux debian 9 and already there I configured php7, mariadb, nginx. But the laravel documentation indicates about the Homestead theme, which is not entirely clear to me why it is needed if I have already deployed everything on my locale. Or is it like an extension about security, which, in principle, can not be installed

I suspect you put everything in the system? And such tools as Homestead allow not to "pollute" the system, while providing the necessary software for development. I remember it as a good tool before Docker got popular.
