What is better to learn PHP or Python for the backend if you are learning the backend alone?

Recently I started to cut the backend on php, well, I filed the admin panel, it seemed easy, because all the info is on the internet on the surface, literally the first link is the answer (this is from php), it turned out quickly. However, a friend said that the language (php) is garbage, learn python - it's newer, faster, although the same layman as me. As a result, I was a little shaken by the idea of learning php, but I understand that in 2 years (during a semester, just some kind of hat over time) you can more or less learn php, and then switch to something else, is it worth continuing to study php or after all, start learning python, otherwise there is an opinion: "what was temporary has become permanent"?

I've worked with php, python, ruby, java, js and really for the web it doesn't matter at all. It’s worth learning what to start with the syntax. Can’t stand the brain) the second language will be easier (and it will be anyway)
