What is a working keyboard layout indicator for gnome-3.8?

I work in gnome-shell, gnome 3.8, ubuntu 13.10
The layout is customized via xkbcomp.
For customization to work, I had to demolish /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/libkeyboard.so
Switching is configured via ISO_First_Group/ISO_Last_Group to Capslock.
What and how to fasten the layout indicator for in the top panel in such a situation?
