What is a cluster system?

In the process of looking for a replacement for the glaster, I stumbled somewhere on a cluster system, the architecture of which seemed to fit my requirements. I thought to go back and look in more detail, but then I got lost and I can’t find / remember what it was.
Feature:
When requested (perhaps for writing), the Metaserver (s) decides which of the replica servers becomes the master for this file. On other servers, this file becomes read-only. After recording, it is the server, not the client, that already distributes the file to other nodes.
Then the same file can become the master on another node. Etc.
Reading is naturally possible with anyone.
