What happens in the camera at the moment of focusing?

Good evening, I encountered such a moment when the camera tries to focus, the picture is knocked out and becomes darker for a moment.

Inside the lens, the lens moves so that the objects the camera is pointing at are "in focus". About focus and so on - refer to the section of physics "Optics". With normal autofocus, the correct position is determined by software, by the sharpness of the picture. In fact, the lens moves until the picture is the clearest.
