What happened to the HDD?

There is a 1TB HDD, which is used in the system for storing all kinds of files (from documents to movies).
Today I noticed this problem. With any more or less long read operation (for example, a large archive), the disk hangs, as it were. In the resource monitor, its activity freezes at 100%, and, for example, that large archive stops being read and also hangs in the same state.
If you remove the process, then the activity drops to 0 and everything can be repeated again.
It is similarly bad with launching applications from a disk, it can start for several minutes, while all this time, again, the load is 90-100%, after launch it again drops to 0.
Lighter reading variations like opening xls or doc work fine. Those. according to the monitor, at this moment, the activity jumps to 15-20%, for example, but then, after opening, it drops to 0.
I launched a SMART test on the disk via WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics in fast mode, but it has been going on for about 40 minutes and is not going to end, while the Estimated time is 2 minutes. It's like it's hanging too.
What to do in such a situation?

To say something sensible, you need to see smart parameters Preferably with raw values.

I don't want to croak, but save what you can from the disk. Most likely the disk throws CRC Error and constantly rereads sectors. Good luck.
