What happened to apps in Chrome?

When chrome dev was still version 6, for the first time it became possible to enable apps with the --enable-apps key and it looked
like
this addresses and bookmarks - then I really liked it, but I was not ready to change ff :)

Six months have passed, in the courtyard of chrome dev 10, officially support for apps in the stable version of chrome, an open WebStore ... and everything that I once liked in apps it has evaporated, now the maximum that can be done is to pin the tab, while the search bar and bookmarks are not removed - this is not convenient.

Actually the question is: these skis do not go, if I ... brake.

PS I use Google Chrome 9.0.597.16 dev on Ubuntu

Found the answer to my question: groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-apps/browse_thread/thread/6e8ce34153ed9b3a?pli=1 the developers just cut out this functionality and don't want to do it. I'm disappointed because it was so convenient... I hope they change their mind

If you need to pin a bookmark, removing everything superfluous from it - for Windows there is such a solution in Chrome! (I can’t say about other OSes - I have Win7).
Click the Wrench (Settings...) -> Tools -> Create Application Shortcuts...
A shortcut is created that, when clicked, opens a separate Chrome window without all the extra stuff . I use this feature all the time - it's very convenient. In fact, it turns out, as it were, separate applications based on Chrome.
