What good thermal paste is there for CPU air cooling that wouldn't degrade?

What kind of good thermal paste can be bought, not liquid metal with high thermal conductivity and so that it does not degrade?

For laptops I use amperin ss100 - an excellent thermal paste, while being cheap. I tried kpt-8, it worked even worse than the old dried one.
