What gives possession of a computer (tablet, smartphone) in terms of child development?

Even with the limitless possibilities of the Internet, the horizons of children do not expand exponentially and the depth of their knowledge remains at the same average level, no matter how much time the child spends on gadgets. What's the catch?

If he throws birds at pigs there, then he gives nothing.
If he reads, sometimes watches movies, uses some training programs, then it is similar to working at a computer.

Ask yourself why having access to the Internet your knowledge does not grow exponentially.
ps you require too much from the child. Nature created man not to add numbers or program in java.

The outlook and the volume of knowledge develops not due to the time spent in front of the monitor, but due to the actions that the individual takes.
Likewise, your muscles won't get stronger from sitting in a rocking chair, nor will your brain get stronger from reading jokes.

I got my own computer at the age of 15, and now both my professions are inextricably linked with the knowledge that I acquired in the course of my work with a computer. But long before he appeared, I played with designers, studied English at school and at home, read a lot, and among my favorite books of childhood were "Why", "Your Free Time", TSB, myths and fairy tales of different peoples, julvernes-darrels-asimovs, geographical atlases and any scientific pop. Many years have passed, and I use a computer and a tablet for self-education, I watch movies and read books on them, I learn something new from the world of science and technology every day, I treat other cultures with tolerance and interest, I continue to expand my horizons, I speak English and regularly go to roam the mountains.
You know what I'm getting at, right? This is such a subtle hint™ that in terms of development, a computer / tablet / smartphone gives a person exactly the same thing that a person did before him or without him - just more efficiently and in greater quantities. And if a child on these devices is engaged only in garbage, then this is not a computer problem, and not even a child, but parents who, in the first few years of life, could not properly satisfy his curiosity and make his brain work.

Here the questions “How to start programming / administering / understanding some highly paid area at the age of 25/35/45” often flash by - in response, you can only cover your face with your hand.
Someone asks "How to develop analytical thinking in 25/35/45" - this question is already "warmer".
There is only one answer to all such questions - go back in time by a time machine and give yourself a computer / tablet in the year when you were 6/7/8 years old.
Those who do not have such a time machine for themselves can only make such a gift to their child.

Yes, I was once preparing to take on the right. I tried to learn tickets on the computer - complete bullshit. Until I picked up a paper book with tickets, I didn’t learn anything :)

It does not depend on the tool, but on how it is used. If he stupidly poke buttons, rummage through social networks, watch stupid videos and pictures, play toys, then he will not gain anything but points, back problems and psyche.
And if, under your strict guidance and supervision, he learns to look for useful information, watch documentaries, study the same computer, then his possibilities are endless. Subject to regular classes, but not so frequent as to plant vision.
In general, I think that computers, tablets, smartphones are contraindicated for children under 10 years old. In them, they see only toys, but not a means of learning.
