What firmware to choose. HTC Hero?

There is Hero. It has a standard 1.5 firmware. Previously put Villain 2.1. Now I'm behind the times, I want to know what habrozhiteli use.
- What version of Android is now the most popular and stable.
- Which custom firmware is held in high esteem and falls the least.
Not necessarily sense. It is important that there would be no hemorrhoids with the Russian layout.

Actually , everything is written here . And depending on what you want to get, you can choose the one that suits you best.
My IMHO: you need to set 2.2. 2.3 is still in beta, and 2.2 already has such goodies as C2DM and installing applications on a flash drive.

Everyone, as usual, praises his bike :)
after some ordeal with
FroydVillain and CyanogenMod , I
chose
Cronos Froyo 1.8.0, but in general, as far as I understand, now on 2.2 firmware everything is stable and not bad on all firmware, and you need to choose more for reasons that you closer ADWLouncher or LouncherPro, Sense on 2.2, in my opinion, it’s not normally finished for Hero, but I could be wrong, I haven’t even looked in that direction for half a year.

I chose the latest Nightly CyanogenMod for my first purely because of the daily update.
After setting "for yourself", pleases absolutely everything. Builds, though nightly, no glitches were noticed.
Pleases with an adequate bug tracker, review.cyanogenmod.com/#q ,status:open,n,z - by looking at which you can understand whether there is a need to install a new night light.
And of course, notification and updating through the ROM Manager is convenient.
Nightly builds - download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=hero

Well, the simplest thing is to update natively to 2.1, my hero himself has been updated to this version, in general, everything is enough, the percentage is rather weak and there is not enough memory.
And what do you want from the new firmware.
I put here on another phone several firmware 2.2 and 2.3, without htc sense all the same, the android is not so good.

I have TastyFroyo based on 2.2. Great firmware. Glitches are not noticed. All the time there was a question about this firmware for me. Either the resolution really increased, or the scale was somehow changed. The battery eats in the same way as native firmware.
As for the sense, I can say that it is not yet fully working. I advise you to just read w3bsit3-dns.com there is a great description about each ROM.
