It is better to make a backup of the data, then a full wipe and use a clean firmware - this is an easy way. Difficult is to change the firmware. If you want stability, it's better to look among ICS.
I used RGUI (MIUI), Kaffee4Eck (CM9, CM10) firmware, in principle there were no special problems. Now on cMIUI (JB) - sometimes FC sometimes the radio module is buggy. I'll have to try something else too.
