What firewall to put the server?

Advise what firewall to put on the server, there are several sites with weak visits and an asterisk on the server, everything worked for 4 years, and recently the server has crashed, the hoster turned it off for exceeding the load. I think someone is breaking into the server, please advise a simple solution, since I am not a very advanced user in Linux.

To begin with, correctly configure IPTABLES and close access for incoming connections.

Firewall will not help in this case.
Firewall is protection already on the server. That is, the packages came to you on VDS and already there you figure out whether you need it or not.
The hoster disconnects if the load goes to the channel to the server. And you will not be able to filter the channel to the server in any way - you simply will not be given access to the data center equipment.
What are the solutions in this situation:
- Determine if this is a DDoS or a normal load.
Maybe the project has grown and it's time to move to Dedicated? There, the channel is thicker and there is more reserve.
- If this is still DDoS, we check with the hosting provider if they have any DDoS protection company in their partners, you can usually get a discount. After that, IN THE BEGINNING, we transfer the sites to another VDS, tell the IP to the DDoS protection company and change the records in the DNS as they say. This is necessary so that attackers do not recognize our new IP.
