What does setting a webserver root URL mean?

In the storm, when we create a remote connection, there is a setting below from the server IP:

What is its purpose and is it needed if there are several projects on one server and each has its own URL? Or there then the name of the project domain can be entered with which I work?

This field is used when you try to open files in the browser directly from the storm, it substitutes this url and takes the relative path to the file, and opens it. Most convenient for typesetters
