What does a frontend developer do besides creating the look and feel of a website?

Drinking smoothies, riding a hoverboard around the office, making a smart face at conferences.
Someone rivets the same type of stores on the stream, and someone makes confusing advertising sites with a bunch of animations, interactive 3d presentations and other game. These are very different things. But routine comes everywhere. Any complex area is eventually broken down into a set of known tasks, and that's it, then you need to do almost the same thing over and over again. Fundamentally new projects are a rarity in programming, only a few invent something, the majority solve business problems. And they don't really change. Such is the world. Interest is a very subjective term. The taste and color of markers are different.

As a rule, the coder is engaged in appearance, the frontend developer makes whistles. Clicks, output, data processing.
Developing mobile applications is not, as such, the responsibility of a frontend developer, but writing an application on web technologies, as for me, can also be included in these responsibilities, but not everyone is required to know how, because. besides js, there are other things, knowledge of the platform for which you are writing, knowing its api, etc., but it will not be superfluous to learn.
Most often it is boring for them to be, a lot of routine and petty work. It is interesting in large offices, they make large applications there or work on their own. In some kind of Yandex, where there are a ton of projects or any other large ones. In general, it depends on where you work.
Games in the browser are also the work of a frontend developer, why not? In the browser? In the browser. on js? on js.

Creates browser-based web applications (and this is a very broad topic).
