What do you think about the book Fundamentals of Web Application Development by Semmy Purival?

I came across the book on the Internet. Interested. Would you recommend it as a reference book on the web?
If not, what would be better?
It only confuses:
- low rating on Litres (I haven’t looked in other places, while the status of "bestseller" does not inspire confidence)
- relevance (2015, but in the yard 2018)
PS In my opinion, it would be nice for a beginner to combine the course on a popular platform ( Hexlet type) c w3schools. But what literature to add to this pair?

It’s good, but I think it’s already rather outdated - for example, there is about jQuery, but not about modern tools. You can read, it will not be superfluous. I still do not remember that I regretted any book I read (well, except for Paulo Coelho, perhaps).

2015? Forget it. Books already a year old are replete with deprecated features, what can we say about a book from three years ago? This is especially true for the web - in general, everything on the web changes at the speed of light.

waste of time (and possibly money)

It's not just that the book came out a long time ago, some good books remain relevant. But less than 300 pages about everything is about nothing.
It is difficult to advise something, because the topic is taken too broadly at once. You need to start studying the Web with specific, narrower things: layout, frontend (JavaScript) or backend (decide on the programming language).
