The competition is such an interesting thing - no matter how much you prepare, there will always be a highly motivated competitor who will just roll you out.
Thus, it turns out that there is no set of knowledge that would guarantee you victory (at least, you still need practical skills, and they can only be obtained in the laboratory).
At the bare minimum, you need:

  • be able to program in something, probably in C ++,
  • know libraries (probably arduino - for sensors, actuators and communications).
  • be able to deploy a messaging service like Modbus over TCP and program communication with it.
  • be able to design solution architecture from standard components
  • and most importantly, be able to debug all this rubbish in a complex

All this is achieved with the presence of three to five actually completed projects. Without this, of course, you can dedicate a face there, chat, but it’s hard to talk about any predictions for a victory.
