What do you need to know and be able to robotize something?
I have long wanted to know what knowledge and experience are required, and what books to study in order to robotize a certain N manufacturing process . For example, a machine that prepares a drink to order, or makes ice cream to order. Etc.
What fundamentals, literature and areas of knowledge need to be studied in order to describe in detail for oneself (and a partner, for example) the Terms of Reference? And then together (with a partner) implement / design all this.
I have no special education in this area, but I have experience in the field of software development.
I will be glad to your advice and recommendations!

This is a complex question, the answer to which is beyond the scope of this forum. Personally, I advise you to start with the book "Young Cyberneticist" Yu. M. Otryashenkov. The book itself is very ancient and cannot have practical application today, but the theory is presented there perfectly enough to understand what's what and where to dig. In parallel, start learning about microcontrollers. There is nothing super complicated there, especially if you use any children's Arduino kit to start with
PS. Do not listen to "especially smart" dummies about the fact that "Arduino is evil"
ZY.ZY. Chinese Arduino clones are usually no worse than branded ones but cost 3-4 times cheaper
You need to be able to formalize the business process.
Just describe the process of making a drink on a piece of paper.
Then stupidly select an existing device for each item, or again write on a piece of paper how it can be done.
The fundamentals were answered above.
And for the implementation for yourself on your knee, you basically need the ability to use aliexpress, google and YouTube, because. such things are usually quite primitive and are assembled from ready-made modular blocks.
It is enough to sit for a day on YouTube and look at homemade products in order to finally understand what and how to make your own machine.
