What do the vertical multi-colored bars mean in Chrome's network inspector?

What do the vertical stripes in the screenshot mean? Where can you read more about this?

There are two of these bands: under 800 ms and between 900 and 1000 ms.

Blue - DOMContentLoaded event, which means that the DOM tree has loaded (but not all resources). Loading layout completed.
Red - the Load event, when both the DOM was loaded and the resources for the DOM were also loaded, along with the JS and the one that pulled the JS up to the Load event. Site loading completed.
