What do alerts look like on Android?

it so happened that I used only ios and android 2.3, and even then, then the requirements were different the
case is simple - it is very important for me to quickly respond to mail, in fact, this is the only reason I want to buy a phone
on ios very convenient alerts, vibration + sound and the latest notifications are shown on the lock screen, so it is difficult to miss the notification, and if you missed it, then when you want to see the time, you will definitely see it on the screen.
what do notifications look like for example about mail on android? Are there those who used fresh ios and android, and can comment on something? Photo, video I will be doubly happy, I couldn’t google it.
And a sub-question, does the alert depend on the android shell? Those. be it classic android, miui, flyme?
Can the notification be customized? i.e. put your long melody on it, or something like an alarm clock, so that it rings until you turn it off?
Thanks

Yes.

With the help of third-party software, you can configure as you like.

About android:
1) There is GMail from the standard "gaps".
2) There is EMail / Mail, in my opinion it is also standard.
3) There are a bunch of third-party applications in the market.

On my bare android latest version 5.1.1 (Nexus 7 2013), notifications look like this. For example, a message came to gmail -> notification sound -> if the screen is locked, then the indicator + notification on the lock screen blinks, which can be removed with a swipe or expanded with a swipe down, or opened with a double tap. Notifications when the phone is not locked - pop-up, Toast notifications.
From the point of view of a quick response to mail - what you need. We got something, double tap on the notification on the lock screen, you immediately get into an open letter.
But the truth is it all depends on the shell and firmware. I would advise you in this regard on the nexus device.
