What device to choose instead of PDA?

Gradually, the faithful horse PDA acer n300 gives its soul to its electric god.
Need to find a replacement.
I don't like smartphones, and I don't need them. I think that the phone should ring, be physically protected enough and keep the charge for at least three days in active mode, so I have a nokia rm-518 phone.
CCP, as I understand it, is no longer being made.
In my experience, I need 2 things from a PDA - excel (moreover, support for the native ms excel format, and not analogues of spreadsheets) and reading books like AIReader, with fb2 support.
Question. What would it be possible to buy inexpensive now (emphasis on the word "inexpensive"), so that these functions are supported. Maybe something from China?

Uh-huh :( But calling from a smartphone is not at all necessary. If the Excel requirement is very important, that is, .xsl / .xslx support is not nominal, then you need to take it on Windows Phone (or wait for Windows 8) - subjectively MS reads its files best of all / writes, oddly enough :). The cheapest available in stores (St. Petersburg) like HTC 7 Mozart - ~ 9k.

I made my choice - Galaxy Note, a small (relatively) PDA with a dialer and a drawing tool. Of course, not 4 inches, but quite a convenient thing. If the deadlines are not tight, a new model will be launched soon, the price for this one (N7000) will drop significantly.

Any tablet, in fact 7 inch would suit you. There are good Chinese ones for less than $200.
Additionally, it will partially replace the computer / laptop. it is a pleasure to read habr from him.
Yes, and for books 7 inches just right. Vrodk even print books of this format. But take it with ips screen 1024x600 and on allwinner with a frequency of at least 1 GHz. Additionally, it is a good portable video player. Viewing at a distance of half a meter gives the size of a plasma at the end of the room. And yes, the ips has excellent brightness, viewing angles, and contrast range. If you are interested, now I will find a link to what I looked after, IMHO on the screen less than 7 inches of a book and office documents are not very suitable for work. And a 7 inch tablet fits into inner pockets or a compact bag.

Look towards the Archos 35 Internet Tablet . Unless the screen resolution personally demotivates me a little (now the “standard” for android devices is 320 pixels on the smaller side). Although, in principle, there should not be any special restrictions on use.
It is on android 2.3 - which means it will work whatever your heart desires.
The topic of discussion, as well as the firmware, can be viewed on w3bsit3-dns.com (do not pay attention to the lack of a 35 * model in the header, it is only discussed there =)).
By the way, there is also an older neighboring model - with a diagonal of 3.2 *

If you are in St. Petersburg, I can give you my Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket Loox C550 for a penny. It looks like new, custom WM6.5 is installed on it, you can find the characteristics of the light one in Google. Full set, with cradle. Any details - in a personal! I'd be happy to help, I don't use it myself!
