What data to put on the SSD?

I decided to buy an SSD to improve system performance, but the question of layout arose. It is clear that /usr, /bin, /sbin, /bootand is /etcbetter placed on an SSD, but there are doubts about /home, /liband, especially, /var. It is necessary to strike a balance between the speed of access to system files, etc. and maintenance of service life. How do you advise: what to place on the SSD, and what to transfer to the HDD?

maintenance of service life

SSD and HDD are consumables. Modern devices have a very long service life, and it is not necessary to maintain the service life. You just need to make regular backups to a separate device or to the cloud.

Killing an SSD is actually extremely difficult. My main MLC SSD has been serving me for over 5 years now and is not going to die. But it's a good option to save space.

Any data can be placed on ssd! If you are afraid that the devices will break, then photos can be placed in the cloud, for example google photo, and files on Google disk or one drive! In this case, even if all devices break down, for example, a phone and a computer, then all your photos and files will remain safe, and even if you set up automatic synchronization in Google photo on your phone, it is very convenient on a PC or any other device by going to Google photo - view all photos, including those just taken by the phone! :)
