What could happen to the hardware that windows took a long time to load?
Hello!
Faced such a problem that suddenly. the laptop began to get very hot, and the windows xp installed on it is loaded for 7 hours.
Laptop: Asus f3jr
What I did:
1. Cleaned the cooling system (not to say that it was dirty, but the radiator was clogged, the thermal paste on the processor dried up), replaced the thermal paste. With what utility can I see the temperature of the processor (does not show in the BIOS)? With the ability to run from a USB flash drive or SD.
2. I checked the memory with memtest, there are no errors
3. I checked the hard drive, smart ok, there are no bads.
4. I checked the file system, connected the disk to another computer, there are no errors in fs.
5. I tried to boot from different versions of windows "livecd" - they all behave exactly the same, just a slider runs on the screen with the windows logo, apparently it loads, but very slowly (did not wait for the download, waited 20 minutes each).
6. I tried to boot from some Linux image, but it booted without any problems.
because I checked the memory and hard, but Windows also does not boot from external media, I suspect that the problem is in the processor.
Question. How can you check the temperature? And what are the options for further diagnosis?
Thank you!

Try Aida64 - there are both monitoring and stress tests.
If the problem with a long boot appears right away from a cold start, it is very unlikely that this is overheating.
In addition to bads, there may be hard-to-read sectors on the hard drive. Run a full hard drive test.
