What could happen to the computer?
Hello! The PC worked fine with a SATA HDD on board. I connected the HDD with IDE to the slave_ide Express Gate connector and after that the old HDD got very hot, the video card also got very hot and the motherboard got very hot, the system did not boot, and when the IDE hard disk is disconnected, even the BIOS does not load! However, the computer is not mine! What could have happened and where is the problem?
Is it possible to somehow solve the problem?
Help me please!
Many thanks in advance for your help!!!

Most likely a short somewhere. Have you connected PATA screws before? What year should it be, God forgive me? Did you accidentally turn the plug upside down? Yes, there is a key on the mother, but judging by the "Express Gate", they could have connected it upside down :)
Or maybe they decided, God forgive me, PATA can be connected like SATA - under voltage, without cutting off the computer? Or maybe the mother is not firmly fixed, when stuck in, they slightly bent it, somewhere it shorted along the power circuits (and judging by the heating, it shorted along them)?
In general, do not kill the animal, take it to the service ...
