What could be wrong with the laptop battery?

I recently reinstalled Windows 7. I noticed that the battery only charges up to 45%, nothing further. I checked the charging, reset the BIOS, nothing helped. Thought it was a problem with the driver. But I could not find a power driver for my laptop: Acer Aspire 5749. Now I noticed that the battery is only charging up to 34%. And writes "connected, not charging." What could be the problem? Has anyone had this already?

It may be that the battery itself or its charge controller is dying. What nafig driver, the problem can be quite a hardware one.

can only judge for sure by checking it on a reference battery.
